Photography Tips

Sunny 16 Rule

On a bright sunny day, if you set your shutter speed to match your ISO, then your aperture value at F/16, you'll get a correctly exposed image. So if your camera ISO is set at 100, and your shutter speed at 1/100th, then set your aperture value at F/16 for a correct exposure. [src]

Long Exposure metering

If your test shot showed that at f/2.8 and ISO 6400 your exposure should be 8 seconds, then at ISO 125 f/4 you will need to expose for 8 * (6400 / 125) * (4 / 2.8) ^ 2 = 8 * 51.2 * 2 = 819 seconds = 13 minutes 39 seconds. [src]

10-40-10 Rule

At f/10 (or higher) and focus lengths of 40mm (or lower), the hyperfocal distance will always be 10 meters or less. [src]
